SHIP: A Program for Students with High Intellectual Potential

The Seaton SHIP program offers SHIP classes at Years 8, 9 and 10, and advanced courses in Stage 1 and 2 subjects.

SHIP students study with their peers in SHIP classes (Years 8, 9 and 10), working at a higher intellectual level. Students also work and mix with other students in their choice subjects, and in sporting and social activities.

Students may be accelerated into a higher level when appropriate.

Entry into the SHIP program is by application. Gifted students are selected on the basis of testing and interview.

Visual Arts and Innovation Specialist Program

This program enables like-minded students to work as a group to develop their artistic skills to a higher level than would normally be expected. This group remains together for as long as practicable given that in years 11 and 12 students specialise in their subject choices.

Students may be accelerated into a higher level of art when appropriate.

Entry into the Visual Arts and Innovation Specialist Program is by application. Students are selected on the basis of an interview in which they present a portfolio of work, talk about their favourite artist and complete an observational drawing.

Emerging Technologies Specialist Program

In the Emerging Technologies Specialist Program Students will have the opportunity to engage in a range of creative applications of emerging technologies such as Computer Aided Design, advanced manufacturing and resin 3D printing. Students will tackle real world challenges framed around conservation and applied geospatial science using UAV technology and industry standard 3D mapping software PIX 4D. Seaton High School integrates design, innovation and entrepreneurship to create a learning environment that focuses on problem solving and critical and creative thinking to empower students with the key skills imperative for jobs of the future.

Entry into the Emerging Technologies Specialist program is by application. Students are selected on the basis of the application and interview.

Diamond Sports Program

Seaton High School's Specialist Diamond Sports Program enables students with a passion for Baseball and/or Softball to work with like-minded individuals to reach their academic and athletic.

The Baseball Training Centre was formally opened in 2003. The Centre is the best of its kind in Australia and has further strengthened the Program. The Softball Specialist Program is a new addition in 2019. It mirrors the highly successful Baseball Program in content where participants are already showing progress in local, State and College teams in the USA

Entry into the Diamond Sports Program is by application and try-out.
