Health & Physical Education

Our website is soon to be redesigned to reflect significant developments and new directions at Seaton High School. For up-to-date information about Curriculum, please refer to:
Curriculum Handbook 2022
Information Handbook 2022

Physical Education is offered across all year levels. We are a SHineSA focus school and in Years 8 and 9 we deliver the SHineSA curriculum which deals with Sexual Health and Healthy relationships.

The curriculum links into zone and state carnivals and knockouts, to provide students with the best opportunities for success and to extend themselves in various learning and comptetitive environments.

In the senior years we offer a diverse range of subjects to cater to all students interested in developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

As well as the traditional Physical Education subjects across the senior years, students can also study Fitness at Years 10 and 11. This subject continues the healthy lifestyle focus from the junior years but also focuses on non-traditional sporting pursuits (aerobics, archery, golf, self-defence, lawn bowls) to cater for students who are less interested in competitive, team orientated traditional sports.

Outdoor Education is also offered as a full semester course at Year 10 and Year 11. In this subject students develop skills in leadership, conflict resolution, map reading and menu planning. They also attend a 3 day camp, which will consist of a bush walk in Deep Creek Conservation Park or Mt Remarkable National Park.

Fitness leads on to Sports Studies in Year 12 which has a focus on self-directed investigations into the effects of physical activity on the body and coaching/training your peers whilst giving students the opportunity to extend their skill development across a number of sports/activities.
